STANDARD (MODERN
7-HOLE)

These instruments are simple, low-cost flutes designed for solo meditative blowing. Meditatiion shakuhachi are inlaid at the blowing edge with a border of sterling silver and have a bore of natural bamboo. Less refined than the precision cast bore flute, this model is tuned to the Japanese pentatonic scale. While not recommended for formal study of shakuhachi honkyoku, these instruments are suitable for solo meditation. Made from torachiku (Tiger Bamboo) in standard 1.8' (5- and 7-holes), alto 2.1', bass 2.4' and 2.8' contra bass models.
