CLARENCE DOZAN LEDBETTER was awarded a shihan in 1995 after eight years of study with Tozan Ryu Grand Master Yamamoto Hozan. His wife, Janet Knight Ledbetter studied koto with Yuriko Makise of the Miyagi Michio Kai (Ikuta Ryu). Together they forunded the international musical ensemble Circle in the Round. Clarence presently lives and teaches shakuhachi in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
